How to Join RSVP

Born in 1952?

We want YOU, and those born before you, to join our powerful team of volunteers in Chemung County.

You can make a difference in your community regardless of how much time you have to give. RSVP staff will work one-on-one with you to ensure that you gain experience in a rewarding placement.

If you are 55 or older and interested in becoming a volunteer, please

• call the RSVP office at (607) 734-4161 to set up an appointment;
• stop in at the office located at 911 Stowell St. Elmira, NY 14901;

Why Join?

In addition to the benefits that all citizens derive from living in a community where people are working to solve problems, RSVP volunteers know that they are a vital part of improving the quality of life in their community. Studies have shown that people who volunteer are less likely to become ill and more likely to maintain a positive outlook on life.

• supplemental accidental personal injury, personal liability and excess automobile liability insurance while on assignment

What Will I Be Doing?

RSVP volunteers provide a wide range of community services through our partnering agencies. Many RSVP volunteers are interested in trying something new, something they never had the time or the means to do before. Others opt to share a skill they spent a lifetime perfecting. Either way, the choice is yours. Whatever your interest, experience level or goal may be, we’ll locate an agency or client in need of your service. Many of our volunteers are still working, or have retired from one position, work part-time at another job, and want to enrich their lives by giving to others as they approach full retirement.

You can expect a rewarding experience and one which best utilizes your skills or meets your personal needs. We also offer options for those who are homebound or lack transportation.

You can expect to meet others who, like you, just want to give something back.
